Designer with advanced InDesign artwork skills needed ASAP. On-site, 5 days per week based in London.
To put together the layout for a bi-annual catalogue of TV programmes. This is a book of around 120 pages, with around 70 TV shows in it, laid out as mix between an editorial style and a catalogue style.
You will be an editorial designer with some creative skills. The book is templated and we have various aspects of the design worked out (things like cover, typefaces etc) but my client needs someone who can - within an existing grid - decide on a suitable layout, select the right picture from a brief, choose a good crop etc. You will also need to be able to do some simple image corrections but we are not looking for a retoucher by any means.
The ideal person would be someone who has been used to designing editorial layouts for magazines or brochures, who knows InDesign inside-out but is also good in Photoshop, and who can do slightly more technical things like setting up style sheets, prepping files for print etc.
Personality wise they need to be able to crack on with the job under their own steam, handle feedback from various sources (there are a few stakeholders involved and although all feedback would be managed via my project manager, it is inevitably sometimes bitty), work under pressure (as towards the print deadline we need to turn drafts round quickly), and have exceptional attention to detail.
So - someone who is a) great in InDesign, b) who can apply a bit of creativity but is mainly focused on layout c) works well under pressure and d) is good in a team environment.
250 per day. Must be free for all of August and Sep.
Please email me your cv and folio ASAP.
TV, film or music catalogue experience is a massive bonus.
