A full time Lead PHP Developer is required by a leading Digital Agency to join their talented team to work on a range of high profile and large scale technical projects.
Responsibilities
Working with a close knit technical team to develop a new highly scalable technical platform designed to aggregate, index and provide content to multiple external applications.
Developing data services and APIs for both the new platform and other products & services besides.
Working with the CTO to architect the platform, select appropriate technologies and deploy them.
Primarily responsible for the writing the code that forms the core of the new platform.
Managing the day to day activities of a second senior PHP developer who will assist you in developing the platform.
Someone who constantly strives for excellence in both approach and execution.
Reporting to the CTO.
Experience
Highly experience with the digital technology environment, comfortable in working in multi-disciplined teams, you will be an excellent communicator, problem solver and able to consider the wider strategic technical challenges at the same time as digging deep into, and writing, the code and you will also help grow the developing culture.

- Degree (2:1 or higher) in Computer Science or related technical field, or at least 5 years demonstrable senior/lead development experience.
- Primary: Zend PHP Framework, JSON, XML. Secondary: Standards compliant XHTML/HTML5, CSS2/3.
- Large scale application architecture and development using PHP 5, Varnish (or similar), Nginx/Apache and both SQL (e.g. MySQL) and noSQL databases (e.g. MongoDB).
- Proven development of applications specifically intended to operate at scale, using a highly optimized API driven model.
- Server installation and configuration within the cloud, specifically A mazon EC2 and related products.
- Proven experience with organizing data so that it can be easily indexed, tagged (using a taxonomy) and made available to external applications via XML/JSON APIs
- Proven experience with manipulating application activity data to generate graphical representations of data usage.
- Demonstrable approach to test driven development using appropriate tools.
- Excellent communicator, technical thinker, platform developer and team player.
