Overall description

I am currently looking for a back end specialist to join a small development team. The successful individual will be working on a range of exciting new projects across various disciplines as well as assisting with support and maintenance on legacy projects. The applicant will be the lead resource for all of the company’s back-end requirements and will be required to advise and make recommendations during the kick-off phase of projects to both the project team and clients.

The applicant will work on projects for well-known brands in retail, fashion, pharmaceuticals and cosmetics. The role would be ideal for a self-motivated individual who enjoys problem solving, has a proven track record in building and maintaining back-end solutions and understands the need for documentation and writing standards-compliant code. Good communication and presentation skills are essential.

SKILLS & abilities

Essential Skills:

• PHP5 A minimum of two years experience working with PHP to include object-orientated PHP5.
• MySQL A minimum of two years experience working with MySQL including an understanding of advanced functions, nested queries, joins and comfortable working with the command line.
• LAMP Understanding of and exposure to LINUX (additional Windows server experience would be advantageous) with particular attention to the configuration and management of PHP, Apache and MySQL. Also experience setting up and maintaining password protected directories and virtual hosting environments.
• Apache configuration Including advanced vhost rules
• Version Control Working knowledge in configuring and maintaining both GIT and SVN repositories including command line.
• Jquery Good understanding of Jquery functions and methods and able to create advanced JQuery behaviours.

Highly Desirable:

• Wordpress Ability to write custom code for advanced functionality
• Drupal 6+ A working knowledge creating and working with Drupal 6+ using the major modules such as views, context, features, CCK and blocks would be advantageous.
• Ecommerce: Experience with Magento, Commerce or Ubercart and experience of setting up and advising on appropriate payment gateways such as Paypal and Sagepay.
